It was converted to a one piece impression die hot forging at a 13% reduction in weight and reduced manufacturing cost. ?? A cast hub for a large power shovel in a coal field failed, causing an estimated downtime of four to six weeks at a cost of $4000 per hour. The hub was slightly redesigned as an open die forging and produced in two working days. ??
